Special Education Rights in Sacramento, CA

Many people are not aware of the regulations that were set up for special needs children to get an education. A great example would be the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) which became federal law in 1975. At first called the Education for All Handicapped Children Act, the initial purpose was to give a free appropriate public education (FAPE) for children, and to grant certain rights to the parents or legal guardians to decide their child’s curriculum.

Though many protective laws have been put in place, parents and legal guardians found it challenging to obtain the accommodations, support, and services for their child’s education. Tsadik Law is here to guide and represent your family, and press for you to receive the full provisions that your child is entitled to by law.

The school district is obliged to evaluate your child at no cost to you. Give a request to the school district to have your child evaluated, and keep a copy for yourself as a record. Following the evaluation, you can submit a request in writing to schedule an IEP meeting.
